This full time position exists to perform remodeling projects, and general maintenance and repair work on buildings and grounds.
Minimum Requirements: Two years of experience as a carpenter. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency
Necessary Special Requirements: Valid Driver’s License upon employment; completion of van training; certification for Class 1 Asbestos Worker, and medical certification to wear respiratory equipment; all within probationary period.
Physical requirements: Must have the mobility to access small work areas, climb ladders, overhead repairs and work in varying temperatures and heights. Work involves considerable physical exertion to transport materials/supplies weighing 50 pounds or more unassisted, regularly, on a daily basis.
Preferred Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent preferred; 2 years of broad range of carpentry experience, working from blueprints, plans and sketches; completion of course work in carpentry, building trades and/or completion of apprenticeship training; 1 year experience in institution grounds work; prefer Kansas certification as Class I Asbestos Worker; skilled experience in operating and maintenance of portable and stationary power tools; knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in the carpentry trade and their use of application; ability to read blueprints and schematics. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions; knowledge of lawn equipment; be able to read, write and follow written instructions and directions in English.
Salary: $14.30 per hour plus $.30 per hour retention incentive pay
