Assistant Professor/Faculty and Graduate Services Librarian

The K-State Salina Library is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Professor/Faculty and Graduate Services Librarian. This position provides research and instructional support for the faculty and graduate students at K-State Salina and provides proactive leadership in all aspects of mediated learning.

Essential Functions
  • Provides a variety of user-centered services for faculty and graduate students including orientation to library resources, specialized library instruction, research support, professional development in teaching and scholarship, and the design and implementation of mediated instruction.
  • Collaborates with the Undergraduate and Community Services Librarian on reference, instruction, collection development and cross-training activities.
  • Develops and maintains online resources for faculty and graduate students. 
  • Assists faculty with grants and sponsored projects.
  • Serves as liaison with the scholarly communications department at Hale Library on activities related to K-REx, digital collections, copyright, and scholarly communication issues.
  • Maintains K-State Salina’s community in K-REx, Kansas State University’s digital repository. 
  • Collaborates with Library Director and Undergraduate and Community Services Librarian to develop formative assessments to help ensure high quality and necessary services. 
  • Works with college faculty to design, plan, and develop quality computer-mediated learning experiences.
  • Provide support to college faculty, staff, and students on applications such as K-State Online, K-State Enterprise Authentication (KEAS), Axio Survey, Wimba, and educational software employed to support the academic curricula of the college.
  • Provides leadership in advancing formal distance education standards.

 

Required Qualifications

MLS from an ALA accredited institution. Understanding of scholarly communication trends. Experience providing reference services in a library environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience in digital media and web design. Experience with web-based distance learning demonstrated through the creation of online learning environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional master’s degree in Instructional Technology or equivalent degree. Supervisory experience. Knowledge of multiple disciplines and research processes. Experience providing classroom instruction. Evidence of problem-solving skills. Demonstrated experience with grants and sponsored projects. Excellent interpersonal skills and strong service orientation. Ability and willingness to work with colleagues in collaborative and team environments as well as independently. Demonstrated ability to pursue activities and meet responsibilities necessary for achieving tenure at K-State at Salina. Ability to implement course designs using multimedia development tools that may include Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, Visio, JavaScript, and the latest Adobe Creative Suite tools. Skilled in MSOffice Suite; must have experience with Windows environment. Mac experience is a plus.

Terms of Employment

This is a full-time, twelve-month, tenure-track faculty position. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.   Some evening and weekends are required.
