Friday, Jan. 13, 2006 K-STATE AT SALINA PROGRAM TO CELEBRATE MARTIN LUTHER KING JR SALINA – Rev. Allen Smith will present “Keeping the Dream Alive” at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 20 in the Kansas State University at Salina library lounge. The program is in conjunction with the celebration of Martin Luther King Day. Smith is the pastor at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church in Salina. He has been a Salina Human Relations Commissioner since 2000 and a chaplain for the Salina Police Department since 2002. In October 2005, he was appointed by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to the Kansas Task Force on Racial Profiling. “Rev. Smith is a great speaker,” said Pedro Leite, associate professor of engineering technology and a member of the K-State at Salina Multicultural Connection Committee, which is sponsoring the event. “He will bring his perspective and great energy to this program.” The event is open to the public; there is no charge for admission. |
