LIGHTS ON K-STATE EVENT TO FEATURE K-STATE SINGERS, LATIN JAZZ Friday, Jan. 28, 2005 SALINA – Tickets are now on sale for Lights on K-State, an evening of music and sound to support Kansas State University at Salina. The event will take place Thursday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. at the Stiefel Theatre for the Performing Arts in downtown Salina. Featured in the evening’s program will be the K-State Singers, one of the nation’s first show choirs. Based on the Manhattan campus, the group performs a varied and lighthearted repertoire across Kansas and around the world. Combining singing, dancing and instrumental talents, the Singers present jazz, soft-rock and folk music, as well as audience favorites from Broadway shows. The program also will feature a performance by K-State’s Latin Jazz Ensemble, which is made up of wind and rhythm sections, including a full compliment of percussions. The evening will conclude with a complimentary dessert reception for all ticket holders. “We are excited to have two of Kansas State University’s best student performance groups coming to Salina for this event,” said Dennis Kuhlman, K-State at Salina dean. “It’s a great opportunity for K-Staters from either campus to come out and support the university.” Tickets are $50 per person, and all proceeds will benefit the K-State at Salina excellence fund, which supports opportunities for student, faculty and college-wide growth. Tickets are on sale at the Stiefel Theatre box office, or by calling TicketsPlus at 1-800-585-3737. Major sponsors for Lights on K-State are Sunflower Bank and Western Star Ag.
