WILDCAT FLY-IN TO BRING PILOTS TO SEE K-STATE PLANES AND FACILITIES

March 3, 2004

SALINA – Pilots from across the state and region soon will land at Kansas State University’s Salina campus for the 2004 Wildcat Fly-In. The April 3 fly-in is sponsored by the K-State aviation department, giving guests the chance to see the university’s aircraft fleet, as well as training facilities for the professional pilot and aviation maintenance programs.

“ We are excited to have a fly-in on our campus this year,” said Marlon Johnston, aviation department head. “It’s a great chance for pilots or anyone from the area to come out and see the planes and aviation training facilities. Plus, it’s the perfect day to walk around and enjoy all the different activities and events that the whole college has to offer.”

Breakfast is free to guests flying in; all others may purchase breakfast tickets at the door for $5 per person. Breakfast will be served in the Aviation Center from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., though activities in the department and around the campus will continue until 3 p.m. that day.

The Wildcat Fly-In is part of the K-State Open House, an annual event that brings thousands of visitors to the K-State campuses in Salina and Manhattan. Admission to the activities and events is free, and families are welcome. Activities on the Salina campus also include shooting water balloon cannons, a weld-a-thon, a LAN computer gaming party and academic exhibits, as well as face painting and free ice cream cones.
