Tuesday, March 14, 2006 K-STATE AT SALINA PILOT DEGREE RECEIVES ACCREDITATION SALINA – Kansas State University at Salina’s professional pilot degree, a bachelor of science in aeronautical technology, received accreditation by the Council on Aviation Accreditation, the recognized international accrediting body for collegiate and university aviation programs. The CAA announced in February that the accreditation committee and board of trustees accredited the degree program, the result of an 18-month process that included an extensive self-study report and three-day accreditation team visit in September 2005. “We are very pleased with the excellent results of this accreditation process,” said David Delker, associate dean of academics at K-State at Salina. “The council’s report indicates that K-State offers a high-quality educational and professional training program in aviation, with qualified faculty members who teach in well-equipped facilities and modern aircraft.” Professional accreditation assures students and prospective employers that an educational degree program has met stringent industry standards of quality. It ensures that graduates have received quality training and education and that they are capable of performing a broad range of professional responsibilities. K-State at Salina’s professional pilot bachelor’s degree program has nearly 200 students from Kansas and around the nation. In addition, the program boasts four Master Certified Flight Instructors -- the greatest number of any aviation program at an American academic institution. |
