K-STATE AT SALINA RESIDENT ASSISTANTS RECOGNIZED AT CONFERENCE

March 16, 2004

SALINA – Two Kansas State University at Salina resident assistants presented programs that ranked in the Top 5 at the Kansas Association of Resident Assistants Conference, March 12-14. The annual conference, held this year on the Manhattan campus of K-State, provides a forum for training and networking for resident assistants from around the state.
A total of six students from the Salina campus attended the conference, and all presented programs either individually or in pairs.

“ We made it a goal that everyone from K-State Salina would present a program as an individual or in pairs” said Delton Gordon, residence life coordinator who oversees both of the 100-bed residence halls in Salina. “It just so happened that two RAs who worked together presented two of the conference’s best programs.”

The two recognized programs were voted on by conference attendees and presented by Jason Braun, sophomore in technology management from Hays, and Brian Youngers, junior in professional pilot from Haysville. One of the pair’s programs focused on preventing sexually transmitted diseases, while the other was about working with diversity in the residence halls.

Other conference attendees and presenters from K-State at Salina were Peter Krievins, Olathe, junior in professional pilot; Chris Laws, Leoti, junior in professional pilot and applied business; Jared Manly, Lakin, senior in mechanical engineering technology; and Brendan Haiduk, White Deer, Texas, sophomore in professional pilot.
