AT SALINA RECOGNIZES STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF AT BANQUET K-State at Salina recently held its annual awards banquet honoring faculty, staff, students and campus organizations for service and academic achievement for the 2002-2003 school year. Phi Delta social fraternity was named the outstanding organization of the year. Students receiving awards were: Darrin Achenbach, Lindsborg, was named outstanding student in computer Matt Christopher, Salina, was named outstanding student in technology management. He is a senior in technology management. Shane DeWeese, El Dorado, received the Larry Caldwell Good Sportsmanship Award. He is a senior in airway science - professional pilot. Marshal Giles, Newton, was named outstanding student in chemistry. He is a freshman in mechanical engineering technology. Aaron Grams, Hollenberg, received two Wildcat Pride awards, one for community service and one for determination. He is a senior in airway science - professional pilot. Brandy Sue Hearting, Ogallah, was named outstanding student in airway science - professional pilot. She is a graduate in airway science – professional pilot. Hearting also is a graduate of Wakeeney High School, Ogallah, Kansas. Christopher Hernandez, Salina, was named most inspirational student of the year. He is a former student in computer science technology. Hernandez is a graduate of Orchard Farm High School, St. Charles, Mo. Adria Jerkovich, Salina, received the outstanding essay in expository writing award for her essay “The Many Benefits of Facewash.” She is a senior at Sacred Heart High School who was taking a course at K-State when she wrote the essay. Karl Lindblom, Salina, was named outstanding student in electronic and computer engineering technology. He is a senior in electronic and computer engineering technology. Matt Markle, Salina, was named outstanding student in civil and construction engineering technology. He is a sophomore in construction engineering technology. Jeremy Millard, WaKeeney, was named outstanding student in mechanical engineering technology. He is a senior in mechanical engineering technology. James Reed, Salina, was named outstanding student in airway science - aviation maintenance. He is a sophomore in airway science.
Professor of the year was awarded posthumously to Don Buchwald, former professor of mechanical engineering technology. Barney King, assistant professor of airway science, was named outstanding adviser of the year. Karleen Propst, library assistant II, was selected as the multicultural connection multicultural person of the year. Jackie Tolbert, accounting specialist in college advancement, was named outstanding staff member of the year. |
