Wednesday, June 1, 2005 K-STATE AT SALINA CAMP PLANNED FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS SALINA – Kansas State University at Salina is now accepting middle school students – for a special engineering technology camp, June 26-28. The camp will include a variety of hands-on activities for students entering sixth, seventh, eighth or ninth grade. “This is the perfect opportunity for middle school students to have a great time, explore various areas of engineering technology and get a taste of college life” said Julia Morse, associate professor of engineering technology at K-State at Salina. “We will have hands-on activities that highlight mechanical computer-aided design, robotic automation, electronic circuit construction and simulation, construction engineering technology, computer systems and Web development.” Campers will live in the K-State at Salina residence halls and will participate in a variety of recreational activities during the camp. Advance registration is required, and space is limited. The cost to participate is $100 per camper, which includes all activities, room and board, materials and a welcome cook-out for parents and campers. Engineering technology is the application of engineering theory to real-world problems. The K-State at Salina engineering technology department offers both bachelor’s and associate degrees in engineering technology and is focused in five areas – mechanical, computer systems, electronics, construction and Web development.
