Kelley Coons, junior in technology management, Olathe, organized the service trip, the second for the K-State at Salina community service club. “We helped with some local cleanup this summer,” said Coons. “It’s important to get students involved in helping our local communities. Coons has been busy recruiting helpers for the service project, and plans on taking at least 50 members of the K-State at Salina family to Chapman. “It has been over three months since the tornado, and there are still lots of things that need to be done,” said Coons. “We will be helping in lots of ways, anything from building sheds and roofing houses to painting and sheet rocking.” In addition to aiding in tornado cleanup in the area, the community service group is in the process of panning a spring break service trip to Mexico.
