November 8, 2004

SALINA – Anyone who has ever wondered what information they leave behind as they surf the Internet can find out when a representative from FishNet Security discusses computer network security at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, in the Kansas State University at Salina College Center Conference Room. The presentation will cover computer security issues, such as digital footprints, network security trends and tips for home high-speed Internet connection security. The event is free and open to the public.

“The presentation will explore the different ways that a person leaves electronic ‘footprints’ as they go about their every day business,” said Tony Foster, Eskridge, a senior in computer systems technology and student coordinator for the event. Foster added, “Our reliance on technology for everyday tasks has produced an environment where our movements, actions and habits can be tracked with great detail.”

Presenting will be Paul Klahn, director of consulting services for FishNet Security. Klahn’s experience includes 10 years of law enforcement working in computer forensics, including technical surveillance and computer crime.
