Friday, Nov. 11, 2005 K-STATE AT SALINA TEAM HAS SUCCESS AT COMPUTER CONTEST SALINA – Computer systems technology students from Kansas State University at Salina finished third at the Emporia site of the 2005 Association of Computer Machinery North Central Regional Programming Contest on Nov. 5. The teams at this site also competed against 186 other teams from around the region; K-State at Salina finished 53rd in the region. During the competition, teams work to solve computer programming problems in an assigned programming language. Teams competed against multiple sites around the region, including Emporia. “Our placement has improved each year,” said Troy Harding, associate professor of engineering technology and sponsor of the team. “Our regional ranking is very good, considering that many teams had a graduate student on them.” The students competing on the K-State at Salina team were Tricia Leidich, Derby, senior in computer systems technology; Kyle McConnell, McPherson, sophomore in computer systems technology; and Brad Metzler, Newton, sophomore in engineering technology.
