Salina – Dr. Les Hannah, Assistant Dean at K-State at Salina, is the only Native administrator in Kansas State University. Hannah spoke to students in the Northern Plains about the aviation maintenance, professional pilot, and technology management degrees offered at K-State at Salina. Hannah offered insight about college academics and told students "College is going to be tough; I'm not making any promises other than if you give me your best effort I will help you succeed, but you have to do your part first. It is mutual."

Hannah is a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and has made it his personal mission to increase the number of Native students enrolled at Kansas State University on either the Salina or Manhattan campuses. He hopes with the wide range of courses offered, students will be interested in one of these campuses. Hannah would also like to develop associations with other tribal colleges to enable students and faculty to exchange ideas.
