Pre-College and Concurrent Credit Program

K-State Salina courses are offered for students who desire to complete college credit while still in high school. Completing these courses is a way for high school students to receive college credit to get a head start on their post-secondary education. The courses may be taught in the high school, at the K-State Salina campus, or online. Courses taken on the K-State campus or online are a part of the Pre-College program. Courses completed at the high school are a part of the Concurrent Enrollment Partnership between K-State Salina and Saline County high schools.

Who Qualifies to Enroll in Courses?

Courses are available to eligible high school students who obtain permission from both parents and high school officials. Enrolling students must have at least a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA and meet the established ACT or placement testing requirements. Please see the Admission & Placement page for more information. Students may complete up to 15 credit hours as a Pre-College or Concurrent Credit student. Once the student enrolls in the 16th credit hour they are no longer considered a Pre-College or Concurrent Credit student and will be charged full tuition & fee rates.

Deciding to Participate

Students should discuss participating in college courses with their parents and high school counselor before making a decision to participate. Early enrollment for college credit, grades recorded on permanent college transcripts, and cost should be discussed. We recommend thoughtful consideration before making the choice to participate. While students will be able to take the courses for which they have met the prerequisites; low grades and withdrawals need to be avoided since they will have an impact of your future college grade point average and potentially financial aid once you enter a college or university as a full-time student.
