Placement Exams

K-State Salina requires all fully admitted incoming students to submit an ACT or SAT score. Provisionally admitted and high school students whom have not taken the ACT or SAT must complete a COMPASS exam. COMPASS exam scores help advisors recommend the best place to start with fundamental subjects such as Math and English courses. This requirement helps ensure that students have the appropriate skills for success in their K-State courses. Students who have taken the ACT or SAT but feel their scores are not representative can take a placement test.

Non K-State students and high school students can schedule a placement exam with the Testing Center. Please contact your institution to verify the type of COMPASS Exam that is required.

To schedule a Placement Exam:

Step 1: Complete the Schedule an Exam form.

Step 2: Non-KSU students pay the $10.00 administrative fee. The administrative fee can be paid by credit card or cash on the day of your exam.

Step 3: Request special accommodations, if applicable. If you have a learning or physical disability that would prevent you from taking a COMPASS exam under standard conditions, you may request special accommodations. Arrange to take the exam on either a regularly scheduled test date or at a specially scheduled administration. For details, please contact the Testing Center at 785-826-2958 or salce@ksu.edu
