Short Biography Eric Shappee has been with Kansas State University Salina since 2000. He is a Master Certified Flight Instructor with ratings in instrument, advanced ground, and instrument ground. He has a commercial certificate with ratings in single engine land, multiengine land, and glider and has more than 3,000 hours of flight instruction given. He is a member of the Soaring Society of America, the Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association, the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators, the University Aviation Association, the International Society of Air Safety Investigators, and the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International. He is also an Aviation Safety Counselor for FAASteam - FAA Wichita. A Wakonse Fellow, Shappee holds an M.S. in aeronautical science and safety and a B.S. in aeronautical science with a minor in aviation safety, both from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He developed K-State's aviation safety minor, served as manager of the Aviation Department Safety Committee, and sat on the Campus Safety Committee. He has been involved with the College Open House Committee, the Multicultural Connection Committee, the Marchbanks Teaching Award Committee, and the KSU New Faculty Institute Advisory Committee.
