Safety & Security Officer I
This full time position exists to provide 24 hour security coverage for the Kansas State University Salina campus and includes an excellent benefit package.
Necessary Special Requirements: Valid driver’s license upon employment, and must undergo a background investigation to include a fingerprint search of local, state, and federal files to determine whether a criminal record exists; Must not have been convicted of any state or federal crime or its equivalent; Must be of good moral character. Once employed, within the probationary period successful completion of CPR and First Aid is required and must be maintained.
Physical requirements: Work requires moderate physical exertion in transporting items up to 50 pounds, on occasion, i.e.: fire extinguishers, ice melt; Ability to work varied hours, walk long distances, remain on feet for an extended period of time.
Preferred Qualifications: Prefer experience in security or related field; Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to the use of KSU Salina buildings; Able to detect suspicious conditions. Good oral communication skills; must be able to write a report in a clear and concise manner. Thorough knowledge of standard methods and practices used in safeguarding buildings and premises including fire prevention, and health and safety practices; Ability to compile comprehensive reports of activities pertaining to safety and security and computer skills.
Salary: $13.61 per hour plus $.30 per hour shift pay = $13.91 per hour
Regular Hours of Work: 8 hour rotating shifts and/or shift assignments. Subject to recall for emergencies and campus security needs.
