TESTING INFORMATION Placement Testing In an effort to better serve our students, K-State at Salina requires all incoming students to complete English and Math placement tests before enrolling for classes. This helps advisors recommend the best place to start within these fundamental subjects. Our testing policy helps ensure that students have the appropriate skills for success in their K-State courses. Students who have taken the ACT or SAT can provide those scores as a supplement for the COMPASS placement testing. Click here to see the recommended courses based on ACT scores. Students who have taken the ACT or SAT, but wish to take a placement test nonetheless are welcome to do so. To schedule a placement test appointment, contact the Academic Advising Center. A fee exists for non-KSU students. See the AAC Fee Schedule for details. CLEP Testing The Academic Advising Center works with CLEP to provide students the opportunity to earn college credit through testing. The CLEP website lists the subjects available as well as helpful hints for preparing for the tests. To schedule a CLEP test, complete this form and bring it to the Academic Advising Center, or call for more information. See the AAC Fee Schedule for cost information. Proctoring For students enrolled in distance courses, the Academic Advising Center provides proctoring services. Two computers are available for online testing, as well as adequate accommodations for written tests. Test dates must be scheduled at least one week in advance. Contact the AAC with questions. There is a $10 fee to proctor non-KSU courses. For more information, see the AAC Fee Schedule. |
